South Shore Habitat for Humanity and The Town of Easton are offering a Single Family Affordable Home in Easton!!

Selected homeowners work alongside volunteers on the construction of their home. Families purchase a home with a 30-year affordable mortgage and a deed restriction that maintains the affordability of the home in perpetuity.

South Shore Habitat for Humanity offers a hand-up, not a hand-out. Our partnership program includes educational workshops to equip new homeowners with the skills necessary to be active members of their communities. Habitat Family Partners are selected based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner and demonstrated need for adequate housing.

A household (family) shall mean two or more persons who live regularly in the home as their principal residence and who are related by blood, marriage, law or who have otherwise evidenced a stable inter-dependent relationship, or an individual. (definition provided by The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities)

Habitat Family Partnership selection is based on the following guidelines and level of need as determined by:

  1. Current living conditions; must demonstrate a housing need, beyond the desire of owning a home;
  2. Willingness to partner with Habitat to provide 250 sweat equity hours, per adult, volunteering on a home or other volunteer opportunities with South Shore Habitat;
  3. Willingness to attend financial workshops before, during and after construction of the home;
  4. Ability to repay a 30-year affordable mortgage. Employment/income verification, credit checks and review of financial statements are required.
  5. Must be a first-time homebuyer (some exceptions may apply). See sample application on our website www.sshabitat.org/homes.

In order to qualify, applicants must meet the minimum and maximum annual income (outlined in the offering) of no more than 80% of the area's median income.
